Social Responsibility

Our communities and our employees are a vital part of who we are and what we do.  We encourage our employees to participate in activities within the local community, and we support their efforts as a responsible corporate citizen.

Be The Light Campaign

In 2017, LEDVANCE worked with the Be the Light Campaign to celebrate light-hearted people who lift others up through positivity – people who “Be the Light” – and to try and spark a movement of kindness.  LEDVANCE launched a contest with the grassroots organization to invite the nation to nominate those who are sources of light.  Winners were rewarded and recognized on our social media channels. Some of the winners were also showcased at www.bethelightcampaign.org/everydayheroes

ENERGY STAR

SYLVANIA joined the ENERGY STAR partnership when CFLs were added to the program in 1999, and we’re proud that we were recognized by the government program 10 years in a row for our commitment to energy efficiency, education and outreach, and promotion of ENERGY STAR certified lamps and luminaires

SmartWay Transport Partnership
In 2007, SYLVANIA joined the US EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership to assess and reduce the environmental impact of the transport of our products.  We work jointly with our customers and transportation providers to evaluate ways to reduce emissions throughout our supply chain.  With SmartWay, we are committed to increasing the use of designated SmartWay carriers, increasing container-direct opportunities to our distribution centers and customers, and migrating LTL (less than load) shipments to truckload opportunities.
SmartWay also extends to our sales fleet.  All vehicles must be EPA SmartWay certified, achieving a high level of performance for both fuel efficiency and tailpipe emissions.  Along with our other fleet initiatives, this effort helped reduce our corporate mobile source emissions by over 19% since 2006.

Proud to Hire Veterans

The SYLVANIA Talent Acquisition group actively recruits transitioning service members and military veterans. We currently employ close to 400 transitioning service members and military veterans.
